Goals of CertificationThe NENA Executive Board first formed a Certification Committee in 1992 to explore the development of a certification program for individuals involved in emergency number program management. After a thorough review of the certification process, the Executive Board approved the Committee’s recommendation to go forward with the establishment of an Emergency Number Professional Certification Program.This recommendation included several goals: To establish the comprehensive body of knowledge for Emergency Number Professionals. To promote a standard of competence for Emergency Number Professionals that will be recognized and accepted by the 9-1-1 profession, government agencies, the business community, and the general public. To ensure an awareness of current issues and developments in the 9-1-1 profession. To provide formal recognition of individuals for professional achievement. To encourage professional growth and enhance the self-esteem of Emergency Number Professionals. Certification will be granted to those individuals who meet the eligibility requirements for admission to the examinations outlined in this handbook and who successfully pass the examination.

The purpose of the Certified Sport Security Professional (CSSP) certification is to assure that individuals at the middle and upper levels of organizations and who are in leadership roles responsible for the planning and overall security operations of sport venues and events have the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform their job. The Certified Sport Security Professional designation will be awarded to individuals at the middle and upper levels of an organization who are in leadership roles responsible for the planning and overall security operations of sport venues and events. The individuals create security related policies, procedures, operating plans, create and deliver training, and oversee the selection of other venue and event personnel and/or event personnel providers (vendors). They serve in a command capacity during events and ensure that the event plan is being properly followed and also to provide upper level supervision of event personnel and/or event personnel providers.

Did you know that the RCDD is a Department of Defense requirement? To sit for the RCDD credential, you must have at least one of the following:Five years ITS design experience Two years verifiable ITS design experience and three years additional ITS equivalents chosen from combinations of experience, approved education and approved ITS license/certification Design includes the development of design plans for ITS integration. This includes site surveys, user needs analysis, work print creation, project specifications, RFP creation and pre-project coordination with PEs, architects, AHJs, etc.Design does NOT include installation, testing, project/site supervision, project QA, ITS sales or sales support, teaching of ITS subject matter, etc. Although these items are important to the success of a project, they do not qualify under the definition of design.The RCDD exam, a comprehensive application- and knowledge-based exam, is based on content found in the 12th edition of BICSI’s Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM).
