Delta Scientific Barrier Stops Intruder at U.S./Mexican Border

Delta Scientific announced that a man from Santa Ana, Calif. attempted to cross from Tijuana into the United States via a closed lane at the San Ysidro Port of Entry south of San Diego on the afternoon of December 22 (2020). The Hyundai sedan struck a Delta Scientific TT218EC manual beam vehicle access barrier on the American side of the border. The driver was instantly killed. Delta Scientific Introduces New ‘Open Frame’ Vehicle Barrier

Delta Scientific announced the new shallow foundation M50/P1 DSC550 Open Frame vehicle barrier. The DSC550 was tested to the new ASTM F2656-20 standard which measures the penetration level from the leading edge of the barrier versus the back-side of the barrier like the previous standard. This can provide a difference of up to five additional feet (1.52 m.) and makes the negative penetration level even more impressive.

Delta Scientific Hits Job # 10,000

Delta Scientific announced that they have reached a milestone in achieving job number 10,000. That translates to over 9,800 wedge barricades, 1,100 gates, 5,300 beam barriers, 23,000 bollards and thousands of traffic spikes and gate arms. The first order was entered into the system in 1974 for what is now the Sabre Tooth Traffic Control with Tire Spikes that enforces “One Way” traffic flow for parking facilities or other single direction vehicle lanes.

Delta Scientific MP5000 Portable Barrier Certified to ASTM M50/P3

Delta Scientific announced that traffic access control professionals can now set up MP5000 portable barriers on concrete, asphalt, compacted soils or vegetation in 15 minutes or less to provide certified M50 stopping power. Original models provide M40 protection while the new models stop 15,000 pound (6804 kg) medium-duty trucks traveling at 50 mph (80.4 kph).

Delta Scientific announced that, on June 3, 2019, when a man couldn’t produce credentials at Mayport Naval Station, he gunned his engine and attempted to enter. The security staff activated Delta DSC501 to pop out of the ground. The vehicle crashed into it and was brought to a standstill. The violator was taken to the hospital and died two days later. Eight days later, on June 11, a man, driving a Ford F-350 truck, also tried to get on base.

Delta Introduces 16-Foot ‘Open Frame’ Vehicle Barrier

Delta Scientific announced they successfully tested a 16-foot version of their DSC550 shallow foundation open frame barrier to M50/P1. Delta originally tested the 10-foot DSC550 in July of 2020. The new test was necessary to prove that the DSC550 will withstand the same impact at an increased length. In fact, the barrier was a bit stronger at this length producing a negative 1.1 foot level of penetration compared to a negative 0.36 foot penetration level from the original 10-foot version.

Delta’s Single Shallow Foundation Bollard Gets M30 Rating

Delta Scientific announces the successful testing of its ASTM F2656-20 M30/P1-certified Model DSC633, a single shallow foundation bollard design that stops and destroys a 15,000 (6.804 kg) pound test truck with -8.82 feet (-2.69 m) of static penetration and -3.63 feet (-1.1 m) of dynamic penetration. The simulated bomb load remained intact and contained on the truck bed. The test vehicle weighed 15,000 pounds (6,804 kg) and was traveling over 30 miles per hour.

Delta Scientific announced that, on Thursday, May 21, just after 6 am, a terrorist tried to speed past a Delta Scientific MP5000 portable barrier onto the Naval Air Station – Corpus Christi. The intruder shot at the gate’s base security sailor but struck her bullet-resistant vest. According to the Associated Press, the sailor, who survived, then rolled over and hit the switch that raised the barrier, preventing the terrorist from gaining access to the base.

Delta Scientific announced that a Delta MP5000 portable barrier stopped a stolen Dodge Ram pick-up truck at an entrance gate of the Naval Air Station – Corpus Christi. The stolen car was chased by the local police onto the base. The barrier then impacted the rear of the vehicle, disabling it. Simultaneously, the Air Station announced that an unauthorized person was on base and the facility immediately would go under lockdown with all gates secured to all traffic.
