SUMMARY:Continuous Monitoring and Security Operations
DESCRIPTION:We continue to underestimate the tenacity of our adversaries! Organizations are investing a significant amount of time and financial and human resources trying to combat cyber threats and prevent cyber attacks\, but despite this tremendous effort organizations are still getting compromised. The traditional perimeter-focused\, prevention-dominant approach to security architecture has failed to prevent intrusions. No network is impenetrable\, a reality that business executives and security professionals alike have to accept. Prevention is crucial\, and we can’t lose sight of it as the primary goal. However\, a new proactive approach to security is needed to enhance the capabilities of organizations to detect threats that will inevitably slip through their defenses. SEC511: Continuous Monitoring and Security Operations will teach you how to strengthen your skills to undertake that proactive approach.

SUMMARY:Intrusion Detection In-Depth
DESCRIPTION:SEC503 is most appropriate for students who are or will become intrusion detection/prevention or security analysts\, although others may benefit from the course as well. Students range all the way from seasoned analysts to novices with some TCP/IP background\, but to keep pace with the class students are expected to have at least a basic working knowledge of TCP/IP (see www.sans.org//media/security-training/tcpip_quiz.php ). Please note that the Packetrix VMware used in class is a Linux distribution\, so we strongly recommend that you spend some time getting familiar with a Linux environment that uses the command line for entry\, along with learning some of the core Unix commands\, before coming to class.

SUMMARY:Health Care Security Essentials
DESCRIPTION:Health Care Security Essentials is designed to provide attendees with an introduction to current and emerging issues in health care information security and regulatory compliance. The class provides a foundational set of skills and knowledge for students through the integration of case studies\, hands-on labs\, and defensible control considerations for securing and monitoring electronic protected health information (“ePHI”). In this class\, students will learn about actual attacks and incidents that have affected health care organizations and what can be done to mitigate the damage to prevent your organization from suffering a similar outcome. For compliance and audit professionals\, this class details how to automate controls in support of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) Security Rule and other key regulations.

SUMMARY:Intro to Information Security
DESCRIPTION:This course is designed for students who have a basic knowledge of computers and technology but no prior knowledge of cyber security. The hands-on\, step-by-step teaching approach will enable you to grasp all the information presented even if some of the topics are new to you. You’ll learn the fundamentals of information security that will serve as the foundation of your InfoSec skills and knowledge for years to come.
