Digital Watchdog Acquires Award Winning Innovative Security Designs IP-Camera Manufacturer

The NVRPRO Network Video Recorders from Genie CCTV come with Dual Network Cards which enable connection to different network segments. This maximises network efficiency and improves CCTV security the makers say. The Dual IP Application allows users to communicate between remote WAN access and the IP video system without compromise to the separated recording networks bandwidth. It also reduces susceptibility of unauthorised access to the recorder and the IP cameras. Besides the security and data protection, Genie says its product makes the management of video much easier and more flexible. A range of WAN IP addresses can be stored into the product management set up programme which only allows authorised security managers and users to access the system. Within the LAN IP Management System only administered LAN IP addresses can access video, meaning that non-registered LAN computer users cannot interfere with the system. Having a video network dedicated to one of the LAN ports on the recorder alleviates network bandwidth requirements, the manufacturers add, as only the IP cameras reside on this private ‘video network connection’. This means authorised WAN/ Intranet/Internet users do not ‘load traffic’ within the video surveillance network. Web: www.geniecctv.com

Research: Security As A Key Enabler Of Smart Cities

That was the message when Anthony Leather from analysts Frost & Sullivan described how security is a key enabler of a smart city. By 2025, it’s predicted that there will be at least 26 completely smart cities, with more than half of those in Europe and North America. In the following presentation, delivered at IFSEC International in May 2013, Anthony introduces how intelligent communication systems, renewable energy, and an increase in intelligent buildings all drive a safer and more secure city. He also covers how existing security technology such as video surveillance, video analytics, and biometrics will remain the main focus of a city’s security and how the analysis of key information flow is the main area for improvement in the next generation of security. PSIM Technology For Transport Management Systems

PSIM in use for Traffic Management Integrated control room technology using Physical Security Information Management technology can help traffic run more smoothly in complex urban environments. As surveillance based security systems have become more capable of performing more complex functions with the increased use of IP technology as a platform, so the control and operation of such systems has also become more demanding. Video Management Systems were developed to facilitate this demand for integration and improved manageability and continue to be the main platform on which most IP surveillance systems are built. However, complex environments like major ports and docks, rail terminals and airports require a significant leap in technology to be able to effectively manage all of the different sensor inputs from smoke alarms, intruder detection systems, door status sensors and dozens of other devices that are attached to the security network, both analogue and digital. It was in such environments that the technology of PSIM (Physical Security Information Management) was developed. PSIM goes a step beyond VMS and combines data from surveillance and other inputs to create a holistic overview of a security environment along with the intelligence to provide control room operators with decision paths based on alarm conditions or combinations of events. Some of the workflow can even be automated, further reducing the dependence on human intervention. PSIM for Traffic Management Intelligent Transport Systems ( ITS ) are also benefitting from such advances in technology and provide the kind of challenges that PSIM is designed […]
