Taipei Airport Administration Bureau Deploys Surveon Megapixel Solutions

18-02-2014 As one of the top ten international airports, its administration bureau carries important functions in terms of managing daily operations. Deploying security at the highest level is a must for the bureau and megapixel surveillance is the obvious choice. Since conventional analogue solutions cannot meet the surveillance requirements in terms of resolution and central management, megapixel solutions are a must. However, high resolution could potentially weigh down the recording performance and cause reliability issues. Any video loss is unacceptable. In addition, integration and flexible surveillance controls are also required to ensure safety, security and cost-efficiency. The Surveon CAM4365, 3 megapixel WDR dome, offers high resolution of 2048×1536 and excellent image quality; its industrial-grade, ruggedised IP66 design, vandal proof, and auto focus features also make it suitable for outdoor use.  In addition, Surveon’s latest CAM4471 camera expands real-time/30 FPS performance to 3 megapixel while maintaining true HDR with over 100dB to ensure higher quality.  Compared with the conventional all-in-one NVR, the Surveon NVR2100 with pre-integrated SAS subsystem storage is capable of continuous megapixel recording and allows applications and networks to work independently and reduces the possibility of malfunctioning caused by them interfering with each other.  It is professionally designed for mission-critical security applications because of its high performance and reliability.  The Surveon VMS Enterprise software offers levels of user privileges for different authorities, allowing one single login to VMS with a flexible control. The intuitive UI also simplifies the complicated video management, requiring only minimal trainings to fully control and conduct the VMS. Built on the open […]

Sentry360 Launches Open-Platform NVR Edge Devices For Plug-And-Play IP Video Surveillance

Lakeport Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man they say is responsible for a string of downtown burglaries committed last week. Jeffery William Stokes, 25, is sought in connection with break-ins at several Lakeport businesses. A second suspect, Kimberly Jo Harvey, 46, already is in custody. “It’s definitely a substantial case,” Lt. Jason Ferguson said Friday. Multiple items were stolen from each place, he said, declining to estimate the value of the items stolen. Harvey was arrested Jan. 9 on suspicion of burglary and possessing stolen property and burglary tools after police found her at a motel room that the hotel manager connected with a man matching Stokes’ description, police said. That man had been stealing coins from the motel’s laundry room, the manager told police. Video surveillance showed a man registering for a room under the name Stokes. The man’s appearance matched that of a man seen on video, along with a woman, on burglarizing a local dry cleaning business two days earlier, police said. An officer went to the room registered to Stokes. He was not there but police said the officer got verbal permission from a woman there, later identified as Harvey, to enter the motel room. The officer saw multiple items he believed to be stolen, including jewelry and blank checks. There also were bolt cutters and other devices considered to be burglary tools, police said. The Lake County District Attorney on Monday filed a complaint accusing Stokes, believed to be […]

Standalone NVRs Advance In Market Over PC-Based NVRs

Source: Alyssa Fann, a&s International | Date: 09/26/2013 Related tags: Standalone NVRs , NVR NVRs began as PC-based solutions, harnessing the powers of a CPU. However, in recent years, these are no longer the mainstream products on the market. A couple of years ago, standalone NVRs were introduced into the market, catering to the increasing popularity of network cameras. Since then, their popularity has risen in the industry and standalone NVRs are claiming their spot as the mainstream video storage product. Another NVR develop in recent years is in response to community- and city-wide surveillance projects. The NVRs that cater to this market segment are large with powerful data processing capabilities. PC-BASED VS. STANDALONE While both PC-based and standalone NVRs record video, store video, and manage cameras, recorded content, viewing and archiving, the differences between the two lie in how they operate and the features they provide. Standalone NVRs are smaller and more compact in size compared to PC-based NVRs. In terms of performance, standalone NVRs operate on SoC and usually have one or more DSPs for video compression, decompression, and a CPU for other functions. On the other hand, PC-based NVRs utilize the CPU for video compression/decompression, viewing and recording content, and managing cameras. Currently, standalone NVRs are better suited for systems where the number of cameras is within the limits of an NVR’s capacity. PC-based NVRs are decidedly more powerful in processing data, and offer much more flexibility in storage scalability, compared to standalone NVRs. PC-based systems […]
