Australian Senators Call for Stricter Biometric Data Storage Law

Rapid Growth in Global Video Surveillance Market Continued in 2014

The world market for video surveillance equipment grew by 14.2% in 2014. This is according to recently published estimates from IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), through its Video Surveillance Intelligence Service. This is a higher rate than IHS was forecasting back in December (it was forecasting 10.7% back then). The difference is down to higher than expected growth in China. EMEA, Americas, and the rest of Asia all grew at slightly lower rates than forecast in December.

I?ve been reading about a series of FBI emails the ACLU recently obtained that demonstrate that the Bureau was ?wrestling? with privacy issues related to their use of LPR. The emails do not give any detailed information on what issues they were facing or what was done, but they do make clear that the FBI?s purchase of LPR equipment was temporarily suspended in the spring of 2012 due to this controversy.
