ImageWare Systems announced it signed a deal valued at more than $1 million with Funciones Ocupacionales Insha, to provide software that will facilitate a multi-modal biometric driver license system for the state of Baja California, Mexico.
The project, which will begin in the third quarter of 2014, will help create more than one million licenses for Baja California over the next three years.
For this contract, ImageWare will receive one time license fees for the software itself, along with ongoing payments for providing continuous professional services and maintenance.
ImageWare will install the software at governmental offices in the state’s largest cities, such as Tijuana, Mexicali, Tecate, and Rosarito, as well as establish mobile facilities across the state.
“As security needs become more complex and demanding, our customers increasingly appreciate the unique power and flexibility of our patented cloud-based, multi-modal biometric solutions,” said ImageWare chairman and CEO Jim Miller. “Our proven track record of providing state-of-the-art biometric solutions for government agencies was a key factor in winning this award.”
Based on ImageWare’s CloudID modular software platform, the multi-modal biometric driver license system facilitates the rapid development and deployment of identity management solutions to generate various credentials.
These documents include IDs, passports, driver’s licenses, smart cards and access control credentials.
The software is designed to provide a comprehensive identity management solution, which ImageWare says will accommodate unlimited population sizes and stations, as well as allow users to add other biometric modalities and incorporate new biometric devices.
