One of our industry’s top market influencers suddenly passed away this pass weekend. Frank DeFina, Senior Director, Strategic Sales, at IP-camera manufacturer Hikvision has died. The cause of his death and DeFina?s age were not immediately known.
A Sunday notice from Jeffrey He, president of Hikvision USA and Canada, read as follows: ?It is with deep regret that I inform you that Frank De Fina passed away over the weekend. Each of us not only grieves at the passing of a tremendous individual but also for the loss his family suffers. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family members. Frank had several causes he deeply believed in and the company will be making contributions to those organizations. Should you desire to send condolences to Frank?s family, please send them to Alex Asnovich and they will be passed along to his family.?
DeFina had had been with Hikvision USA for just over two months as senior director of strategic sales. A year prior, citing personal reasons, DeFina unexpectedly left his position with Samsung Techwin America as vice president of sales and marketing, where he launched new reseller channels, led ambitious sales initiatives, and established strong partnerships with vendors for North American security business.
Roughly two months later, the industry veteran then joined SightLogix as executive vice president of sales and marketing, the position he held until taking his final role with Hikvision.
A member of the executive board of the Security Industry Association (SIA) and the International Biometrics Industry Association (IBIA), DeFina made a name for himself in the security technology industry when he served at Panasonic for 26 years, serving is several positions, such as president and COO.
