PlateSmart, the industry leader in License Plate Recognition (LPR), will announce its new cloud-based LPR technology that is hardware and camera vendor neutral. This announcement marks an industry first —the introduction of LPR in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model providing greater access and scalability than is currently available.
The new cloud-based solution expands the horizons for LPR by delivering the technology as an online service that does not require any onsite installation by the end-user.
Instead, users supply PlateSmart with images via the Internet. License plates are captured from the images in the cloud and then the license plate data is returned to the users for review and determination of any safety concerns.
User costs are inexpensive and are assessed on a per-click basis. Additionally, updates and improvements to the software will take effect instantly for all clients globally.
?Our new LPR-in-the-Cloud service is one of the most exciting technologies we?ve delivered to our users,? said PlateSmart founder and CEO John Chigos. ?LPR has quickly evolved from a niche technology into a tool that is instantly and securely available at the click of a mouse. It can be quickly and inexpensively deployed and tailored to fit any business model.?
PlateSmart continues to redefined the possibilities for LPR with the introduction of its software-only solutions, which has made cost-effective, mass deployable LPR available not only to law enforcement, but also to a wide range of public and private organizations including casinos, ports, hospitals, and college campuses. PlateSmart does not own or store any of the data in its cloud-based servers.
