SIA

The Security Industry Association (SIA) announced the selection of Raymond Dean, vice president of key accounts for Stanley Convergent Security Solutions (CSS), as this year’s recipient of the George R. Lippert Memorial Award.

The SIA Lippert Award Committee, composed of previous recipients of the Lippert Award, unanimously chose Dean from a field of nominees. Dean, a 39-year veteran of the security industry, entered the industry when he founded PEI Systems Inc., a New York-based security systems integration firm, in 1974. In 2007, Securitas Systems AB purchased PEI; subsequently, Stanley Black and Decker Inc., the parent company of Stanley CSS, bought PEI and other assets from Niscayah (formerly Securitas Systems AB).

“I am overwhelmed at having been selected for this award,” Dean said. “It is an honor and extremely humbling to be recognized alongside the likes of Ken Boyda, Bill Bozeman, Sandra Jones and Les Gold to mention just a few?those that I consider the great icons of our industry.”

“Ray Dean has always put the industry first through his career and as a member of the SIA Board of Directors. The entire SIA community admires his accomplishments and strong efforts to foster collaboration within the security industry,” SIA CEO Don Erickson said.

Dean, a certified protection professional?, is a long-time member of ASIS International, where he has served as secretary, vice chairman and chairman of the New York City Chapter of ASIS. He continues to serve as chairman of the ASIS New York City Annual Trade Show, which he co-founded in 1990. In addition, Dean serves on the SIA Board of Directors.

Dean was also a founding member and former president of SecurityNet, a group of independent system integrators chartered in 1993 to provide cohesive and consistent globally integrated security solutions and services to the corporate marketplace. He has also served as a monthly security columnist, and he has authored numerous articles for various security publications over the last two decades.

SIA will present Dean with the 2013 Lippert Award during the SIA Honors Night gala at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York, N.Y., on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

The Lippert Award, founded in 1989, is named in honor of George R. Lippert, who dedicated more than 20 years of his life to the security industry and SIA. When evaluating candidates nominated for the award, the SIA Lippert Award Committee considered their long-term service to SIA and the security industry, the impact of their efforts on behalf of SIA and the industry, and their integrity, leadership and diplomacy as demonstrated in industry dealings.
