OnSSI announced its acquisition of Germany-based VMS pioneer SeeTec last month and soon after introduced their newest Video Management Software version – Ocularis 5.0.

Ocularis 5.0 is simpler because it makes system configuration faster and easier with a camera finder tool that locates cameras and allows administrators to configure them centrally and a one-click converter tool for swapping out cameras.

And whether swapping out cameras or installing new ones, there is now no need to register camera licenses and MAC addresses. Operators just connect, detect and install.

To further support Ocularis? simplified positioning, OnSSI consolidated product features into three models (Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate) to make it easier to select the appropriate product to fit security applications.

Ocularis? new recorder technology provides increased power and efficiency with hard drive storage and performance optimization, alarm-triggered video retention, and Video Aging which reduces storage size by eliminating frames of recorded video at designated times. And now with Ocularis 5.0, data transfer from the camera to the recorder is fully encrypted.

And the huge buzz about the Ocularis 5.0 release is that OnSSI, in conjunction with its acquired company SeeTec, is developing all components of the VMS including the Base, Client, and the Recorder, making it completely independent, which will result in significant benefits for OnSSI?s dealer channel, Ocularis end users, and OnSSI.

OnSSI will continue to support and advance active Ocularis 4.x products, and both 4.x and 5.0 products can coexist with the same system, making system migration easy and cost effective.
