The Autonomous Province of Bolzano has for years demonstrated a relevant competence in this field : For the 520,000 inhabitants and guests of the 116 municipalities of South Tyrol, 305 volunteer fire brigades , 56 Alpine , national and regional rescue bases are available if needed. ‘Alpenverein and 37 sections of the provincial rescue association Croce Bianca and the Italian Red Cross . The Permanent Body of the Fire Brigade also provides services in the regional capital of Bolzano. Around 18,000 volunteers and professionals are active within the intervention organizations.
