Spanish facial recognition software developer Herta Security announced that its BioFinder video analysis software has won the “Best CCTV System of the Year” award at the IFSEC Security & Fire Excellence Awards 2014.

Using facial recognition, BioFinder enables users to search for a specific subject in a database of recorded videos.

The software processes images or videos at a high speed by working with GPU architectures.

BioFinder applications are primarily focused on forensic analysis or the classification of information, which is especially useful to law enforcement agencies in searching for suspects.

Herta Security’s BioFinder successfully beat out technologies developed by a number of major companies, including Siemens, Panasonic, NICE, Genetec, IDIS, Digital Barriers, Vista, Raytec and VPS UK.

Now in its 16th sixteenth edition, IFSEC’s Security & Fire Excellence Awards recognizes the top talent, projects and processes in the UK’s security sector.

The Gala Dinner and Awards presentation was held at the London Hilton on Park Lane on November 27, drawing an audience of about 1,000 security professionals.
