In the midst of industry maneuvering, IPConfigure fires back with the acquisition of a cannon and charges to the front of the VMS field with its Orchid Video Management Software.

This strategic campaign to defend independent and open solutions in the video surveillance industry has quickly gained ground and established Orchid as a leading VMS platform.

Recognized for its ease of use, interoperability, and commitment to open standards, Orchid has outflanked the competition and won customers ranging from small businesses to the world’s largest global retailers.

IPConfigure’s mission to redefine the standards of video management software with Orchid breaches traditional VMS barriers. With its small memory footprint and modest CPU requirements, Orchid is uniquely capable of operating on a broad set of devices ranging from traditional Windows or Linux servers, to NAS storage devices, to supported embedded hardware.

In addition, Orchid supports over 2,500 IP-cameras through the ONVIF Profile S specification. This versatility liberates users from dependence on specific operating systems and hardware, thereby eliminating vendor lock-in.

Further, IPConfigure has launched a strategic initiative to promote open standards through an Internet-accessible ONVIF Test Lab, with live testing results published in real-time on the Orchid website. These ongoing live results demonstrate accountability and Orchid’s interoperability with a wide variety of cameras.

The Orchid user experience features an interactive multi-touch interface that allows operators to control and manage surveillance cameras from web browsers on Windows, Linux, OSX, iOS, and Android.

With this universally accessible interface, Orchid users are able to view live and recorded video simultaneously from any number of cameras using a customizable drag and drop layout. An interactive timeline bar allows users to easily identify motion activity while traversing hours of recordings across multiple cameras.

Coupled with an average installation and configuration time of under two minutes, Orchid is the perfect choice for both integrators and end-users alike.

As part of IPConfigure’s commitment to open standards, the new Orchid Development Platform API allows OEMs, end-users, and development partners to leverage Orchid’s proven recording and streaming back-end to build highly customized and flexible solutions to suit their unique needs.

This truly open and platform agnostic RESTful web API makes all Orchid features accessible to any 3rd party software on systems ranging from an Arduino to a sophisticated cloud-based surveillance service.
