The new vulnerabilities and complexities of the IoT will introduce a number of novel challenges to understanding, assessing, and managing risk. The scale and scope of change is so significant that the IoT is being described as the “Fourth Industrial Revolution” (Industrie 4.0 Working Group, 2013). In this early phase of IoT implementation, it has already become clear that these innovations will prove disruptive on a number of levels.
