Panasonic Unveils Next Generation Body Worn Camera at IACP2019

Panasonic Body-Worn Camera

Panasonic Public Safety Solutions Division is showcasing an innovative new compact and lightweight body worn camera (BWC) at IACP, booth 4411.

The next generation BWC incorporates a unique combination of features, including a user swappable battery with up to 12 hours of life, which allows law enforcement agencies to focus on their duties and not on charging batteries. An officer can now grab and carry a swappable spare battery to go well beyond 12 hours when the mission requires.

The Panasonic BWC also features a new easy to read LCD status screen to provide detailed information on the unit?s operating modes and status.

Panasonic is previewing the new BWC to IACP attendees to get their reactions prior to final production, which is slated to commence in the Spring of 2020.

?Our new BWC is the first in a series of significant breakthroughs you can expect to see from Panasonic i-PRO Sensing Solutions over the next few quarters,? said Masato Nakao, Chief Executive Officer of Panasonic i-Pro Sensing Solutions Corporation of America.

?As important as BWCs are in today?s public safety ecosystem, they are only one component of amuch larger solution encompassing integrated field, vehicle, station-based documentation and evidence capture management technologies, as well as analytics, which we are bringing to a new level of performance, convenience and cost-efficiency.?

The new Panasonic BWC concept reflects the needs of Public Safety professionals around the globe, who share similar challenges and concerns when conducting field operations regardless of their geography. The key feature of the new BWC is a highly desirable 12-hour swappable battery, ensuring extended operation in the field without the hassle and distraction of a recharge for longer shifts.

The new design also includes an LCD screen that replaces conventional LED status indicators to provide intuitive verification ofbattery life, remaining recording capacity, operation mode, status, and more.

The new BWC upholds Panasonic?s established reputation for superior video performance with an enhanced field of view and 1080p HD resolution to capture the finest details. The unit can also be easily switched to 720p resolution to conserve bandwidth and recording capacity if desired.

Additional features include: built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, on-board GPS, and H.265 compression to maximize recording capacity while lowering bandwidth needs.

The new BWC also boasts an IP67 environmental rating, allowing it to be deployed in the harshest operating conditions, and has been designed to meet the rigorous MIL-STD 810G military testing standard.
