RADWIN, the global provider of sub-6 GHz broadband wireless solutions, announced that its point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless broadband systems were deployed by a municipality in Central Africa in a large-scale SAFE CITY video surveillance project.
RADWIN?S systems connect high definition (HD) video cameras installed in strategic locations throughout the city back to the local police command center.
The RADWIN-based wireless surveillance network provides situational awareness and facilitates fast detection and response to public altercations, theft and vandalism.
MER Systems, RADWIN?s partner and a leading system integrator, was responsible for project design and implementation.
Mark Grabov, System Engineer, MER Systems:
?RADWIN?s solutions were the ideal fit for this Safe City project, guaranteeing highest quality HD video transmission to significantly enhance public safety within the city. The systems perform exceptionally well even in challenging non-line-of-sight scenarios and were easy to set up and deploy. We had the entire surveillance network up and running extremely fast.?
MER Systems provided a complete turnkey solution. The project spanned many camera sites with a typical site configuration including two fixed Axis HD cameras monitoring the intersection, and an Axis HD pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera to enable officers stationed in the command center to zoom-in on an occurrence for a close-up investigation of a situation.
RADWIN 5000 subscriber units were installed on street poles and transmit HD video to RADWIN 5000 base stations installed on building rooftops.
RADWIN 2000 point-to-point systems transmit the aggregated video from multiple sites back to the police command center.
Each base station covers several camera sites using a single compact antenna, allowing MER to minimize antenna calibration efforts, as opposed to other PtP systems where multiple antennas are required for central hubs.

Raymond Forado, RADWIN GM North and West Africa: ?Working in close collaboration with our valued partner MER we were able to help the municipality reduce crime and boost its public safety efforts. With heightened security concerns, RADWIN?s wireless-based video surveillance networks are becoming the standard for SAFE CITY deployments around the world.?
