SecureWaters, Inc., announced it will join Cisco Entrepreneurs in Residence (Cisco EIR), a technology innovation program of Cisco Systems, Inc. supporting early-stage startups. Cisco EIR extends SecureWaters the opportunity to work with Cisco and its global partner ecosystem to build a next generation water quality and security solution for Smart Cities through the power of the Internet of Everything (IoE).
SecureWaters develops and manufactures the AquaSentinelTM water security toxicity monitor. The AquaSentinel provides smart cities, municipalities, and utilities with autonomous real-time monitoring of surface waters by continuously gathering and transmitting water quality data to the cloud.
The AquaSentinel enables intelligent response to accidental or intentional spills, terrorist attacks and natural disasters that adversely impact monitored bodies of water.
The AquaSentinel is being recognized as one of the 50 most promising global environmental products by the Kauffman Foundation, winner of the IBM Smartcamp and finalist of the Katerva Awards in 2013 and 2014.
Cisco EIR is an innovation program supporting early-stage companies working on the next big ideas in the Internet of Things/Everything, Big Data, analytics, cloud computing and related areas.
Cisco provides selected startups financial support in the form of payments and benefits, use of co-working space, access to mentors and opportunities to collaborate closely with Cisco business and engineering teams. The Cisco EIR program allows participating companies to focus on building the products they want to build, in the way they want to build them.
“It is a great opportunity and challenge for SecureWaters to join Cisco Entrepreneurs in Residence,” said Ray Slatton, chief executive officer (CEO) of SecureWaters. “We know we touched on something great with our AquaSentinel, a water toxicity monitor that leverages the Internet of Everything and cloud technology to give water a voice. Collaborating with Cisco will accelerate our development of a next-generation water quality and security solution for smart cities, municipalities, utilities, and others concerned about water safety.”
SecureWaters Inc. is a privately owned company developing and commercializing patented water security monitoring technology. SecureWaters is best known for developing the AquaSentinel, an electronic water monitoring and alarm system that tests the photosynthetic process of naturally occurring algae in natural surface water to identify specific pollutants affecting the water source.
