General Technical Systems, a small Virginia Beach based contractor, has won an $11.8 million Navy contract to develop a prototype of a mobile, non-contact biometrics system.
Called Gatekeeper On the Move – Biometrics, or GOTM-B, the system captures biometric information such as 3-D finger, face, and iris from people as they move through the coverage area.
The contract is for $11,825,274 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the development of a prototype of such a solution.
The data that is collected is then analyzed and compared to biometric information on file.
Work will be performed in Virginia Beach (80 percent) and Tampa, Fla. (20 percent). The contract runs through July 2017. General Technical Systems was the only bidder for the work.
No additional information about General Technical Systems can be found and SecurityHive was unable to contact the company directly.
