VidSys, a leading global provider of Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software, is pleased to announce that software engineer Steve Dillingham was selected as one of five recipients 2014 ONVIF Awards, which recognizes security industry leaders and influencers who are shaping the adoption of open standards.

Dillingham chaired the Profile G working group that set device standards for storage and retrieval of recorded video on cameras and networked video recorders and client systems such as video management, building management, and PSIMs.

In addition, he served on the Client Testing working group that established interoperability requirements for all ONVIF compliant devices and clients.

James Chong Founder and CTO of VidSys said, “Steve’s contribution highlights our company’s ongoing commitment to helping define and implement open standards that will enable our industry and users to build physical security systems with best in class products. The Client Test Tool is a significant development and will quickly become the industry gold standard for helping to bring broader adoption of ONVIF and international standards.”

Per Björkdahl, Chair, ONVIF Steering Committee said, “The ONVIF Awards recognize both individuals and companies who have made significant contributions to the industry, which have helped it to mature and grow in a number of ways. This could be from work with standards, interoperability, integration, etc., but does not include work on any specific products.”

Headquartered in Vienna, Virginia, VidSys provides a transformational Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software platform used to run operations centers for public sector agencies and leading enterprise organizations globally.

The platform continuously fuses and instantly correlates vast amounts of data gathered from any number or virtually any type, brand or generation of physical security system or sensor, as well as from networked management applications.

The result is actionable intelligence that empowers decision makers from a single organization or multiple entities —however geographically dispersed— to collaborate in real time.

By leveraging mobile devices, the software also provides instant situational awareness and mission-critical intelligence to first responders, senior executives, or other authorized parties.

ONVIF is an open industry forum promoting and developing global standards for interfaces of IP-based physical security products. More information about ONVIF, including its members and conformant products, is available on ONVIF’s website.
