Siemplify announced that Siemplify customers, along with CEO and co-founder Amos Stern, will deliver a presentation on ?Security Orchestration, Automation and Response ? Tales from the Trenches? during June?s Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit 2019.
The talk, scheduled for 10:45 a.m. EDT on June 18, will separate hype from reality by demonstrating how organizations leverage SOAR in the real world as a force multiplier for their security operations.
Stern will be joined by Ariel Litvin, CISO of First Quality Enterprises, a multibillion-dollar manufacturing firm, and Glen Combs, security consulting partner at Crowe LLP, a top 10 global accounting firm. This practical session will provide attendees with a better understanding of how to make SOAR work for their security needs.
As defined by Gartner, ?SOAR refers to technologies that enable organizations to collect inputs monitored by the security operations team. For example, alerts from its SIEM and other security technologies, where incident analysis and triage can be performed leveraging a combination of human and machine power to help define, prioritize and drive standardized incident response activities according to a standard workflow.
SOAR tools allow an organization to define incident analysis and response procedures in a digital workflow format.? (Gartner, Hype Cycle for Threat-Facing Technologies, 2018, Pete Shoard, 13 July 2018)
?Mature security operations are the linchpin of any successful infosec program,? Stern said.
?To achieve this, both enterprises and managed security services providers, including First Quality and Crowe, are embracing SOAR to overcome alert fatigue and skills shortages, drive efficiency, and respond to security threats at scale.?
Gartner predicts that ?[b]y year-end 2020, 15% of organizations with a security team larger than five people will leverage SOAR tools for orchestration and automation reasons, up from less than 1% today.? (Gartner, Innovation Insight for Security Orchestration, Automation and Response, Claudio Neiva, et al., 30 November 2017)
The Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit will take place June 17 to 20 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md.
