SoleraTec LLC, provider of innovative video lifecycle management and storage products, has certified its Phoenix VCM for the Media & Entertainment market and Phoenix RSM for the video surveillance market as fully compatible with Oracle’s StorageTek LTO midrange and T10000 enterprise drives and SL150 and SL3000 tape libraries.
This certification highlights a level of integration, functionality, and product offering to the video surveillance as well as media and entertainment markets looking for managed retention of video assets.
By combining Oracle’s StorageTek LTO midrange or T10000 enterprise tape drives and automated tape libraries, organizations can now implement a multi-tiered video storage architecture that not only provides for hardware acquisition cost savings but also delivers the ongoing operational cost savings that such a storage solution offers.
Video surveillance is the “killer app” for such a multi-tiered video storage concept that allows for significant operational cost savings over traditional single-tier (disk-only) solutions.
The same is true for the Media & Entertainment markets such as movie, TV production, commercials, and corporate video production requiring proper long-term management of video assets in order for quick repurposing and/or re-monetization.
“Oracle’s StorageTek libraries deliver a level of scalability and functionality that allow organizations to grow with their video surveillance or video production storage needs,” stated Mark Armstrong, CEO of SoleraTec. “Incorporating a multi-tiered video storage solution allows companies the flexibility to retain as much video as desired, at high quality, for a long period of time, at affordable rates.”
StorageTek SL150 tape library emphasizes simplicity and can reduce costs through exceptional scalability, common storage management tools, and do-it-yourself installation and upgrades.
The StorageTek SL150 modular tape library scales up to 750 terabytes, 30 slots at a time, with each expansion module providing up to 75-terabytes of additional video storage (when using StorageTek LTO 6 half-height tape drives).
Oracle’s StorageTek SL3000 modular library offers an innovative, eco-efficient approach to enterprise storage with scalability up to 50-petabytes of video storage.
The StorageTek SL3000 modular library enables you to scale from 200 to just under 6,000 cartridge slots and from 1 to 56 tape drives in highly consolidated datacenter footprint.
“Oracle’s StorageTek digital archiving solutions are key enablers for highly efficient, long-term retention of digital content. Oracle is pleased to include SoleraTec as a partner that has put forth noteworthy effort to ensure interoperability of Oracle’s StorageTek SL150 and SL3000 tape libraries with their video surveillance and media & entertainment archive management software,” stated James Cates, Vice President, Hardware Development, Oracle. “Oracle has identified the media & entertainment market as well as the rapidly growing video surveillance market as key growth areas for Oracle products and we are pleased to work with SoleraTec in these markets.”
With progressively longer video retention requirements impacting I.T. data centers, Oracle’s StorageTek libraries integrated with SoleraTec’s Phoenix VCM and Phoenix RSM video lifecycle management software offers a cost-effective, scalable, video storage solution to government, corporate, and small businesses.
