GSX 2025 Draws Security Professionals from 95 Nations
ASIS International concluded Global Security Exchange (GSX) 2025 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. The three-day event drew nearly 15,000 registrants from 95 countries and featured over 200 education sessions and 500 exhibiting companies showcasing new security technologies and solutions.
Celebrating its 70th anniversary, ASIS International highlighted the growing role of security professionals in strengthening global resilience. Joe Olivarez Jr., President of ASIS International 2025, said the profession has moved from operational support to a strategic business discipline.

said Olivarez.
GSX 2025 opened with sessions including Plan to Succeed: Integrating Protective Intelligence, ASIS Volunteers’ Day, the ASIS Awards of Excellence, the Outstanding Security Performance Awards (OSPAs), and Secure Horizons, a focused event for senior security executives. Attendees also joined certification reviews and workshops covering enterprise risk management, facility design, and security leadership.
Keynote speaker Ian Bremmer, President and Founder of Eurasia Group and GZERO Media, discussed global instability in his address, The New Abnormal: Who Are the Winners and Losers in a G-Zero World? He emphasized that geopolitical power is shifting, with China and the Global South becoming more influential while the United States maintains resilience.
AI and emerging technology were central themes at GSX 2025. Sol Rashidi, former Amazon and Fortune 100 executive, shared her experience launching IBM’s Watson.
She said,
“AI was never meant to replace people—it was meant to amplify us and accelerate our capability.”
The event also hosted a global mentoring session linking young professionals with mentors from across continents, and ASIS Celebrates!—a networking evening held at the National WWII Museum.
The final day, Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, honored service members and veterans. Sponsored by Protos Security, it featured a breakfast and keynote from Gen. Paul M. Nakasone (ret.), former NSA Director and Commander of U.S. Cyber Command, who spoke about cyber convergence, leadership, and the increasing influence of AI in defense operations.
GSX 2025 featured over 200 education sessions, Game Changer talks on resilience and crisis management, and hands-on learning at the X Stage and Resilience Zone.
“Each year, ASIS refines GSX programming to reflect the fast-changing scope of our industry,” said Bill Tenney, CEO of ASIS International.
“From keynotes to immersive sessions, the dynamic nature of security was on full display.”
Attendees could earn up to 22 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits. The ASIS Foundation raised nearly $35,000 through the GSX 5K Race and Virtual Fitness Challenge, funding scholarships, certifications, and hardship grants. A blood drive in partnership with the Blood Center collected donations to save 170 lives. According to New Orleans & Company, GSX 2025 contributed $11 million in economic impact to the city.
