NEC Partners with C-DAC to Deploy Automated Fingerprint Identification System for Kerala State Police in India
NEC Corporation announced that NEC Technologies India has partnered with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing to deploy its industry-leading automated fingerprint identification system for the Kerala State Police in India. The new AFIS will be used by the Kerala State Police to match unknown fingerprints against a central database of known fingerprints for criminal investigation. There are more than 600 police/enforcement facilities across the state.

PSIA Shows Commercial Agent and Adapters for PLAI Demo at ISC West 2019
PSIA successfully demonstrated interoperability between five vendors, with its PLAI specification, at ISC West 2019. The flawless demonstration showed commercial versions of PLAI in Johnson Controls, Software House (C?CURE 9000) and Lenel/S2 (OnGuard) systems. Three biometric vendors, EyeLock, Idemia, and Princeton Identity, and all were able to share credentials across the five systems via the PLAI Agent, a commercial version which is now available from Cruatech.

Suprema ID introduces Android-based mobile fingerprint enrollment solutions at ConnectID 2019
Suprema ID announced that the company’s RealScan-G10 and RealScan-D series scanners are now compatible to Android solution for greater mobility. Developed for increasing demand for mobile fingerprinting, the new Android solution allows greater mobility and solves limitation in power supply when used in outdoors. For enrollment kits, size has been reduced dramatically by replacing larger laptops with compact mobile device such as tablets and smartphones.

The case, Rosenbach v. Six Flags Entertainment Corp., concerned a 14-year-old boy who was asked to scan his thumb into a biometric data capture system before receiving a season pass to a Six Flags amusement park. The boy and his mother claimed they were not informed of the purpose and length of term for which his fingerprint had been collected and neither of them had signed a release for the taking of the biometric information, in violation of the state’s Biometric Privacy Information Act.

South Carolina Non-Profit Group Chooses Iris ID System
Bluffton Self Help has gone high tech with an Iris ID® iris recognition system tracking the hours of paid staff and volunteers. An Iris ID iCAM R100 camera replaces mag stripe cards, said Tony O?Brien, president of Sourcecode LLC, a South Carolina-based software development firm. He designed the iris system, as well as a computer network and telephone system for Bluffton Self Help. The iris-based system saved Bluffton Self Help from purchasing and printing new and replacement ID cards for the five paid staff members and more than 250 volunteers who regularly use the system.
