Unified video and access control help the small airport team improve visibility, respond faster, and support future airport expansion
Genetec Inc. has announced that Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport (RKS) has modernized its physical security operations using Genetec™ Security Center, helping the airport improve visibility, accelerate response times, and prepare for future growth.
Located outside Rock Springs in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport supports more than 11,000 annual flight operations and serves over 50,000 passengers each year.
The airport implemented Genetec Security Center as part of a $43 million terminal modernization project designed to support future expansion, evolving Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements, and potential new carriers and routes.
Unified Security Platform Supports Airport Growth
As part of the modernization initiative, airport leaders replaced aging video surveillance and access control systems with an open and flexible security platform that would allow future expansion without relying on proprietary technologies.
Working with systems integrator Incline Technology, the airport deployed Genetec Security Center to unify video surveillance, access control, and alarms through a single interface.
According to Nic Hasler, Founder and President of Incline Technology, “Our vision from the start was to deliver a system for RKS that’s easy to operate and support, and ready for future expansion.”
With Security Center, airport staff now have improved visibility across the terminal, weather station, fuel station, and Sweetwater Aviation facility. The unified platform helps the team manage security operations more efficiently while improving incident response.
Faster Investigations With Intelligent Search
The airport team is also using the Quick Search feature within Security Center to speed up investigations and reduce time spent reviewing video footage.
Following a reported theft at the airport micro market, staff used Quick Search to analyze footage, identify when inventory changed, and confirm within minutes that the item had been purchased but incorrectly labeled.
“Genetec Security Center brings everything into one place, which helps us manage security and airport operations much more efficiently than before. We’re only scratching the surface of what the system can do. This is the foundation we needed to keep adding capabilities and enhancing our operations,”
said Devon Brubaker, Airport Director at Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport.
Building A Future-Ready Airport Security Environment
The airport’s investment in Genetec Security Center provides a scalable foundation for future enhancements and operational improvements.
“We might be a small airport, but investing in Genetec Security Center allows us to operate like a much larger one. The platform helps us work more efficiently today and sets us up to say yes to new opportunities in the future,” said Brubaker.
The deployment demonstrates how smaller regional airports can leverage enterprise-grade security technology to improve operations, support compliance needs, and prepare for future expansion.
