Connect ONE Adds LoRaWAN Wireless Sensor Integration

New solution enables a security dealer to retain a key national account with wireless temperature, humidity and door/window monitoring.

Connected Technologies has integrated best-in-class LoRaWAN wireless sensors with its Connect ONE® cloud security management platform, giving security dealers a wireless option for temperature, humidity and door/window monitoring applications.

The integration addresses a specific need identified by a Connect ONE dealer and its customer, a company operating warehouses throughout the country. Previously, the customer hired local contractors to install wired monitoring systems at each facility. The new wireless sensors allow the dealer to ship equipment directly to individual locations for simplified self-installation.

“A dealer came to us, about to lose a customer to a manufacturer that sells direct,” said Dan Simon, President of Connected Technologies.

“The customer needed a system for wine storage monitoring that was easier to install than hardwiring each warehouse. We had the integration in place in a matter of weeks, and it helped the dealer retain the customer and the recurring monthly revenue associated with the account.”

LoRaWAN Wireless Monitoring Capabilities

The LoRaWAN wireless sensors use long-range communication technology and ultra-low battery consumption, with a battery lifespan of more than four years.

Additional benefits of LoRaWAN technology include:

  • Secure data transmission: Built-in AES encryption helps protect transmitted data.
  • Long-range connectivity: Stable wireless communication supports monitoring across larger facilities.
  • Low power consumption: Ultra-low battery usage provides a lifespan of more than four years.
  • Easy network expansion: Additional devices can be added to the wide-area network.

The sensors provide temperature and humidity monitoring in a single unit, alongside separate door/window sensors for monitoring openings.

Connect ONE Alerts And Reporting

Connect ONE provides email, SMS and push notifications for monitoring alerts, along with log reporting that supports historical information tracking and compliance recordkeeping.

The wireless monitoring system also integrates with the dealer’s central station receiver for alarm reporting.

Supporting Dealers With Flexible Monitoring Solutions

The addition of LoRaWAN wireless monitoring gives Connect ONE dealers another option for meeting customer environmental monitoring requirements while keeping the solution within the Connect ONE platform.

The integration also demonstrates how wireless technology can simplify deployments across geographically distributed facilities while helping dealers retain important customer accounts and associated recurring monthly revenue.
