New outdoor solutions address needs of harsh environments and offer extended light output option; low frequency models serve sleeping environments
Kidde Commercial announced an expansion of its Genesis™ LED series with new outdoor models and low frequency horns and horn-strobes.
The new outdoor series’ durability make it ideal for harsh environments, like wet and wash-down applications. The appliances’ extended light output option is especially important for open spaces and large spaces.
The addition of wall-mount, low-frequency horns and horn strobes address audio requirements for occupants in sleeping environments, where a deeper, attention-grabbing 520 Hz low-frequency tone is more likely to wake someone up.
Both additions extend the Genesis LED series’ energy efficient, powerful performance benefits, for small to midsize applications. The new solutions, like all products in the Genesis LED series, are compatible with new and existing Kidde Commercial systems.
The Genesis LED series’ low current draw delivers optimal efficiency, allowing for more appliances per circuit and longer wire runs, which reduce costs. When combined with Kidde Commercial’s Evolve fire alarm system’s Voltage Boost™ technology, which multiples those benefits, Genesis LED provides significant cost savings to end users and allows specifiers to craft competitive bids. “
Pairing the Genesis LED line with the Evolve fire alarm system means more simple yet powerful technology, supported by unparalleled installation and field support, for small and mid-size projects,” said Wally Ortiz, Global Product Management Director, Kidde Commercial.
The outdoor series includes an extended candela model delivering light output of up to 115 candela, making the Genesis LED series ideal for applications like manufacturing floors, indoor walk-in freezers, parking garages, and more. The appliances are ceiling or wall-mount, with field-configurable output settings (light, audio, voltage). They feature superior audio capabilities that exceed the Speech Transmission Index (STI) ‘Excellent’ clarity rating. The appliances can handle extreme climates, with an operating temperature range of -40°F to 151°F and are NEMA 4X / IP66 UL listed to withstand wash down and dust ingress environments. Exceeding those standards, they have been tested to withstand water and dust ingression with an IP67 device rating.
The wall low-frequency horns and horn-strobe devices are field-customizable for sound and light, and offer a room-side wiring plate to simplify and save on installation time.
The recently released Evolve fire alarm system is powerful and scalable, with the ability to accommodate up to four loops, each with 250 addressable devices, six standard programmable virtual switches, capacity of up to 72 programmable switches, and five-color programmable LEDs. It comes with an intuitive, large 10-inch touchscreen so installers, technicians and even end users can quickly and easily operate the system. The touchscreen reduces the clicks required to access reports by 40% and, because it is easy to operate, it significantly cuts the training needed for installers and operators.
