Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System Connects More Than 11,000 Florida First Responders

Radio system

L3Harris has successfully managed and operated SLERS

State and local officials will join L3Harris Technologies, FirstNet? Built with AT&T and the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) at the Florida Highway Patrol Office in Miami to celebrate the next-generation of public safety communications through the Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS).

For two decades, L3Harris has successfully managed and operated SLERS, which has reliably provided first responders with critical communications services ? through 15 hurricanes and more than 10 tropical storms.

DMS purchase new L3Harris radios

Last spring, the Florida legislature approved and funded a $451 million contract renewal for the Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) to purchase new L3Harris radios and upgrade its system to L3Harris P25 Phase 2 technology, enabling Florida to move into the future of interoperable critical communications.

To further communications across the Florida public safety community, DMS will enhance SLERS with FirstNet, Built with AT&T ?the only network built with and for America?s first responders? as part of an agreement with L3Harris. By enabling FirstNet within the radio system, team members who travel outside the SLERS footprint can stay connected across the country.

This first-of-its-kind deployment of FirstNet will help connect more than 11,000 first responders across the state with reliable, modern communications tools. On May 18, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
