Integrated Biometrics Co-Founder Fred Frye Promoted to Chief Scientist

Integrated Biometrics announced the promotion of Fred Frye to Chief Scientist. An IB co-founder and former CTO, the promotion enables Frye to focus on new product development. With 30 years of technology industry experience, including 20 years of innovation in biometrics, Frye pioneered fingerprint acquisition solutions through the development of electroluminescent film science and the adoption of thin film transistors. He is the holder of multiple technology patents and is the inventor of an adaptive circuit to enable the dynamic capture of both dry and wet fingerprints.

IB Announces Advancements in Contactless Fingerprint IP

Integrated Biometrics announced its strategic partner, Sciometrics LLC, has applied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and The European Patent Office for new Intellectual Property (IP) that will improve the quality of touchless fingerprinting through mobile devices and expand application of the technology. Sciometrics already holds a seminal patent for empowering off-the-shelf smartphones to capture high-quality fingerprints.

Integrated Biometrics announced that CEO Steve Thies is retiring as of July 19, 2021. After 13 years leading the company through unprecedented growth, Thies plans to travel, enjoy time with his family, pursue other interests, and act as an advisor to Integrated Biometrics. Integrated Biometrics developed and produced the world’s first non-prism-based FBI Appendix F Certified fingerprint sensors using its patented electroluminescent film and a thin film transistor (TFT).
