DVTEL Announces Integration With Latitude Enterprise-Class NVMS With AMAG Technology?s Symmetry Platform
Published on 9 Dec, 2013 DVTEL, INC., the video surveillance solutions provider, announces integration of its powerful Latitude enterprise-class network video management system (NVMS) with the Symmetry security management platform by AMAG Technology, an access control, IP video and intrusion detection system provider. The integration expands the capabilities of both platforms, allowing joint customers to benefit from the integration of IP video surveillance and access control to gain new levels of situational awareness. AMAG’s Symmetry access control system permits users to view live and recorded video from Latitude-managed cameras within Symmetry’s client software, based on events or manual requests. “We are pleased to offer integration with DVTEL’s feature-rich Latitude surveillance software as it provides an additional opportunity for our customers to maximise the value and ease-of-use of the Symmetry access control system,” said Shae Taylor, Extended Business Solutions Program Manager, AMAG Technology. “Both DVTEL and AMAG bring valuable capabilities to the table for security integrators and end users, and we are happy DVTEL participated in AMAG’s Extended Business Solutions program to provide our customers the benefits of both.” Latitude PTZ controls now operational within the Symmetry client software include pan, tilt, zoom, focus, iris and go-to-preset operations. Users can play video of access control events captured by Latitude within the Symmetry application and can configure Latitude cameras within Symmetry. Zappala Jr. touted the security improvements made at Western Psychiatric Institute & Clinic following a tour of the Oakland facility on Friday morning. “It’s outstanding,” Zappala said while standing outside the new main entrance on De Soto Street. “It’s really state of the art.” The redesigned lobby will open next week, UPMC spokeswoman Gloria Kreps said. Many of the upgrades are ones Zappala sought in the aftermath of a fatal shooting in the clinic on March 8, 2012. Former graduate student John Shick, 30, opened fire in the building, killing a worker and wounding five others before University of Pittsburgh police fatally shot him. Zappala’s office hired consulting firms J.P. Hudson & Associates and Condortech Services to review safety procedures in response to the incident. A Condortech report released in November 2012 recommended UPMC spend $2.1 million on security upgrades at Western Psych. Some of the improvements include: relocating and upgrading the main security command and operations center, installing all-in-one security card and fingerprint readers for staff and installing a new video surveillance system, among others. “The doors on the first floor lock down, so your movement is restricted,” Zappala said. “Shick could move through the entire first floor.
