Top Security Concerns, Need-to-Know Industry Trends on Agenda for ASIS 2014

ASIS Atlanta 2014

More than 20,000 security professionals from 80 countries are expected to attend the ASIS International (ASIS) 2014 60th Annual Seminar and Exhibits taking place 29 Sept.-02 Oct. at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. The conference will also include the colocated (ISC)² Security Congress 2014, and will provide offerings ranging from educational and general sessions to keynote addresses, and from educational roundtables to an exhibit hall featuring more than 600 companies.

The education sessions reflect a wide range of topics from the most urgent issues on everyone’s minds and in the headlines these days—such as mass shooting incidents, cyber fraud, aviation security, and workplace violence—to health concerns such as the safety of our food supply and dealing with legalized marijuana.

On the business side, attendees can explore management issues such as internal theft and sabotage, best practices in hiring top security personnel, monitoring internet communications, and complying with employer mandates of the Affordable Care Act.

How did Brazil hold up under the crush of tens of thousands of visitors for this summer’s World Cup? “Brazil: Lessons Learned and a Look Ahead” will provide a post-event analysis of the physical infrastructure as well as the medical and security areas.

Litigation against security is a constant threat but attendees can learn how to protect corporate interests in a session that reviews the mistakes of others and demonstrates how foreseeability and adequacy of security are argued by plaintiff and defense in actual cases.

One session focuses exclusively on a new breed of integrator that is emerging to address both small- and large-scale projects. “The Integrator of the Future” session will identify the largest growth markets for tomorrow’s integration professional.

ASIS 2014 provides dozens of additional opportunities to learn, share, and network. Three general sessions will deliver expert insight on effective threat modeling, bribery and corruption in foreign markets, and the dramatic change taking place now in China.

Keynotes will be presented by Jon Huntsman, Jr., 16th governor of Utah and candidate for the 2012 Republication Presidential nomination, and General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.), 65th Secretary of State.

The Closing Luncheon will feature Scott Moore, United States Navy SEAL Rear Admiral (Ret.) speaking on “Building Teams with the Military’s Most Elite.”

The ASIS CSO Roundtable is sponsoring a variety of programs and events Monday through Wednesday, including a Wharton-CSO Roundtable Mixer on 30 Sept. at 16:00.

ASIS 2014’s hundreds of exhibiting companies will demonstrate cutting-edge technology, products, and services to support the security profession worldwide.

Free career-related services such as resume reviews and daily panel sessions on need-to-know information for career advancement in security will take place in the Career Center on the show floor.
