The goal with all of our staff was to facilitate a view where they saw the organization as a business, not just a paycheck.  As the owner, it can be easy to fall into the silo of what my daily responsibilities are and not stay on the front-end of our staff’s development.   But that development of their understanding of how a business works, notably the challenges and opportunities inherent within it, are invaluable.

Tornados, hurricanes, flooding, forest fires— these natural disasters aren’t rare “acts of God” anymore. When you build strength in from day one, keep people informed, and follow a calm, practiced playbook, a scary weather week can become a loyalty moment instead of a scramble.

Anecdotally, the frequency in these displays of nature’s fury is noticeably more often than even a decade ago. Coastal towns still watch the tropics, but inland neighborhoods now look at flash flood alerts, power-grid strain, or hazy orange skies from fires hundreds of miles away.
