MPC Alliance More Than Doubles Membership

Meta, Bosch and nearly three dozen other companies have recently joined the MPC Alliance. The influx of new members elevates the organization’s membership to 59 as the cryptographic privacy and security technology gains more support across a range of industries. The MPC Alliance is a non-profit established to increase awareness and promote adoption of the privacy-enhancing technology.

SAFR Partners with Convergint

SAFR announced a partnership with Convergint Technologies. Under the terms of the agreement, Convergint will add the SAFR computer vision platform to their portfolio of integrated security solutions to offer its US customers the industry’s foremost facial recognition platform for live video intelligence. Convergint is a $1.4 billion global systems integrator with over 150 locations spanning the globe.

Average Number of Networked Cameras Increases to 3.4 from 1.9 in 2018

Parks Associates’ new Smart Product Market Assessment research finds US broadband households with networked cameras now own on average 3.4 of these devices, a rapid increase from less than two devices in early 2018. Additionally, over one-third of those who bought a smart video doorbell in the past 12 months are first-time buyers. The firm will host the 15th annual CONNECTIONS Summit: Smart Home Growth Strategies virtually on January 14, in cooperation with CES® 2021, featuring executives from ADT, Alarm.com, Brinks Home Security, Nice, Notion, SimpliSafe, and Yonomi.

Qualcomm Launches $100M AI Investment Fund

Qualcomm Incorporated announced the launch of the Qualcomm Ventures AI Fund to invest up to an aggregate of $100 million in startups transforming artificial intelligence. The fund will focus on startups that share the vision of on-device AI becoming more powerful and widespread, with an emphasis on those developing new technology for autonomous cars, robotics and machine learning platforms.

Kathleen Carroll And Craig Sharman Take SIA Chair Positions

During the 2017 SIA GovSummit, SIA Chairman Denis Hebert announced that Kathleen Carroll, Vice President, Government Affairs, HID Global, would assume responsibilities as chair of the Security Industry Association (SIA) Data Privacy Advisory Board. Hebert also announced that Craig Sharman, Director, Federal Government Relations, Johnson Controls Inc., would chair the SIA Government Relations Committee, a position previously held by Carroll.
