Former University President Dennis Berkey To Head Biometric Company

Former Worcester Polytechnic Institute president Dennis Berkey has been named president and chief operating officer of a Cape Cod-based biometric security company. Mr. Berkey has been tapped to lead Biometric Identification and Security Systems, based in Cotuit.

Besides leading WPI for nine years, Mr. Berkey was a dean and university provost at Boston University.

He is a mathematician and mathematics educator with published research in applied mathematics and textbooks in traditional and applied calculus.

In making the announcement, BIOMIDS CEO & Founder, Frank Mann, said “Berkey brings important expertise in education, broad experience on a variety of boards in fields relevant to our business, and strong management and leadership skills. We are delighted to have him join us at a critical time in our development.”

Biometric Identification and Security Systems (BIOMIDS) stated mission reads: “As a biometric security firm we will provide the most advanced authentication systems and technologies available for Enterprise users and Developers to integrate into their systems and applications. In addition we will serve home use Consumers. We will provide features incorporating advanced security, convenience and productivity.”
