Sielox LLC announces the deployment of Sielox Class™ Crisis Lockdown Alert Status System at Onslow County School District in North Carolina, Floyd County School District in Georgia and at Seton Catholic Preparatory High School in Arizona.

Sielox Class provides real-time classroom status, updates and notifications to administrators and first responders through the use of interactive floor plans, email and text messaging to assist in making split-second decisions.

Responders are directed to the problem location and the condition color status allows for the proper resources to respond. Situational awareness is enhanced for Responders to make informed decisions and no longer walk blindly into harm’s way. Sielox Class also indicates medical, missing student, and disturbance incidents.

Karen Evans, President & CEO, Sielox LLC said, “Enhancing communication during crisis situations is vital to reducing response time and directing resources to where they are needed most.

The recent deployment of Sielox Class through our Select Business Partners is enhanced by their relationships with these schools and by providing a reliable, cost-effective solution that can make all the difference.”
Onslow County Schools Director of Safety and Security Dusty Rhodes said having Sielox Class Crisis Lockdown Alert Status System (in their 37 schools) helps him sleep better at night.

“We’re stopping the lag process,” said Rhodes. “Now when that teacher presses red, I’m automatically notified. I’m already en route the same time as the police.”

“They’ve never even picked up the telephone and law enforcement is on-site,” said Dusty Rhodes, security and safety director for Onslow County Schools. Rhodes said it’s about cutting down response times, which ultimately means saving lives.

“Putting in all these measures in place amounts to approximately $10 per student this year, after this year the cost is minimal,” said Dusty Rhodes, the director of safety and security.

“We want students to come to school and feel safe; and we want to save lives should a crisis arise, that’s why we’re doing what we’re doing,” he said.

Sam Sprewell, Floyd County Schools, chief of operations, said this (Sielox Class) system would allow Floyd County Schools to identify a problem and control who comes in and out of the school.

“This gives us the ability to do everything we want to do,” he said. “This is a comprehensive plan.”
Marcus Roberts, the resource officer for all Pepperell schools, said he is interested in the new technology, noting the map system, which allows him to see where and what is going on from his phone. “I think it’s a pretty good system,” he said. “It would be nice to know where a problem is before I get there.”

Seton Catholic Preparatory High School installed Sielox Class Crisis Lockdown Alert Status System to enhance awareness and communication to first responders in the event of an emergency.

Julie Grindey, Dean of Students at Seton, said the first lock down drill helped train teachers how to use it to secure their classrooms.

“It’s about minimizing response time and enhancing communication with campus security in any type of situation,” Grindey said. “One of our teachers has already used the system to inform campus security of a person who was unaccounted for on campus.”

Evans stated, “Sielox Class is secure, easy to install, and operates as a stand-alone or integrated system. You simply add it to your existing network and uses devices already found in the classroom. This scalable, flexible solution for crisis management provides real-time visibility when every second counts and protects what we value most.”

Sielox LLC will be demonstrating Sielox Class at the ASIS International Expo in Atlanta GA on 29 SEP – 1 OCT.

Key Benefits
Sielox Class is much more than a Panic Alarm. There are five default conditions (Crisis – Red, Room Disturbance – Orange, Medical – Blue, Missing Student – Yellow, Safe – Green) which Initiators (Teachers) can select for their classroom, and then chat with Responders to qualify and update. The system enhances communication during crisis situations and for any daily incident. Sielox Class is applicable to other markets including medical facilities, commercial buildings and more.

Sielox Class reduces time for notifying First Responders from minutes to seconds, and provides critical situational awareness of location and degree of incident or crisis. Responders (Police, EMS, SRO, or School Nurse) view dynamic floor plans and send Alert Levels (Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter, All-Clear) to Initiators who then follow incident and crisis SOPs. The system creates a complete audit trail of actions and communications for incident report and analysis.

Sielox Class is cost-effective because it can be deployed without cabling installation costs, has no recurring monthly hosting fees or licensing fees, and leverages existing devices and network infrastructure already found in the school.

The system can interface to paging and mass notification systems via a Sielox 1700 controller outputs to trigger pre-programmed announcements and messages and easily integrates with existing security and video systems. Any IP camera feed can pop up via action url commands.

Background
Most schools follow state mandated evacuation plans and drills, use an intercom and others have installed a panic button as their sole method of communication during crisis situations.

Some follow the manual FEMA red / green card procedure recommended after Columbine in 1999.

Developed in 2012, Sielox Class – Crisis Lockdown Alert Status System automates the red / green card procedure and expands communication and awareness during critical situations with a scalable and flexible solution for crisis management.

Sielox Class also enables awareness for other important incidents including medical, missing student, disturbance and more.

Sielox Class uses a browser from any device using redundant networks and is accessible from anywhere, anytime. Works with iPad, Droid, Smart Phone, Desktop, Laptop, or Smart Board over WAN, LAN, WIFI, and High-speed Cell (3G, 4G, LTE) Networks.

Sielox Class – Crisis Lockdown Alert Status System was the recipient of both the Security Products Magazine and Government Security News New Crisis Management Product of the Year for 2013.
System includes AnyWare 8 web-based access control.
