NEC Provides Facial Recognition System for Admission Control at EU Summit
NEC Corporation and its Romanian Branch office announced the provision of a facial recognition system for admission control at the EU Summit held in Sibiu, Romania on May 2019. From January to June 2019, Romania held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time, during which time the country was dedicated to strengthening security measures at important domestic events. NEC was selected by the Romanian Protection and Guard Service to provide NeoFace.
NEC Biometrics Contribute To Security At The 18th Asian Games
NEC Corporation announced that it provided information and communications technology (ICT) systems for the 18th Asian Games, including a facial recognition system and a behavior detection system, as a supporting sponsor in the category of ICT security. The Asian Games are an international multi-sport event for athletes from across Asia that are held once every four years. This year’s event was held in Jakarta and Palembang in the Republic of Indonesia from August 18 to September 2.
NEC’s Facial Recognition Software Featured In Smartphones
NEC Corporation announced its provision of facial recognition software for use in “Stream System” smartphones manufactured and sold by Algerian electronics manufacturer Bomare Company (Bomare). The FIDO (Fast Identity Online) standard compliant software enables user authentication by facial recognition without sending biometric data from smartphones online. Bomare, which manufactures and sells smartphones, tablets, televisions and other electronic devices, has adopted NEC’s facial recognition software for use in a new Android OS smartphone.
Biometric Law Enforcement Comes to Canada
Facial recognition technology for the purpose of law enforcement has now marched into Canada, with the Calgary Police Service set to become the first Canadian police service to use such technology. They’ve contracted Texas-based NEC Corporation to provide the tech in the form of its NeoFace Reveal system.
