AvaLAN Wireless, a leader in long range industrial wireless Ethernet products, announced a new high power industrial wireless product with government certified FIPS140-2 Level 2 encryption technology. This new 1 Watt Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum wireless radio has industry leading encryption to meet the needs of industrial customers who are looking for new ways to securely connect their network devices. Many industrial programmable logic controllers (PLC) used in electrical smart grid, water and waste water, oil and gas, and other applications need government certified encryption technology to secure their critical assets. Today’s cyber security threats are real and need to be addressed with products like the new AvaLAN Wireless solutions that are designed to protect critical infrastructure. The AW900FS has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $999 USD and is currently shipping.

The AW900FS is a secure industrial wireless Ethernet radio uses the latest in FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) technology to deliver long range, high speed wireless networking with government validated data security. This radio operates in the unlicensed 900 MHz ISM band with 1 Watt transmit power and a 200 Kbps transmit rate. The AW900FS radios include a built-in web browser interface for remote configuration, status monitoring and firmware update. An operator at the main HMI (Human to Machine Interface) console can log in to each radio’s fixed IP address to facilitate troubleshooting. There is an LCD panel on the front of the unit that can verify proper operation at a glance. Encryption keys and passwords are entered through a separate USB interface port that requires physical access to the radio. The security information cannot be accessed through the wired or wireless Ethernet interface.
