The National Center for Spectator Sport Safety and Security (NCS4) and the Security Industry Association (SIA) have named Scott Dunn—senior director of business development, solutions and services for Axis Communications, Inc.—as the 2019 recipient of the Sports Security Innovator Award. SIA will present Dunn with the honor at the National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition, taking place at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Security Industry Association (SIA) has selected Mark McCourt as the recipient of the 2018 Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award, which recognizes SIA volunteers who have made tireless efforts to expand SIA’s programs and services. SIA will present McCourt with the award at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership meeting, during ISC West. Mark McCourt, head of commercialization at Cobalt Robotics, has made valuable contributions to SIA.
The Security Industry Association has selected Chris Grniet, CPP, as the recipient of the 2018 SIA Committee Chair of the Year Award, which recognizes individuals for excellence in leading SIA committees and advancing member objectives. SIA will present Grniet with the honor at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership meeting, during ISC West. Grniet chairs the SIA New Product Showcase Committee and also serves as regional vice president of the security and technology consulting division at Guidepost Solutions.

The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced AcceleRISE, a new conference for tomorrow’s security leaders featuring top-quality idea sharing, coaching, business skills development, networking and inspiration. AcceleRISE 2019 will be held Aug. 14-16 at the Radisson Blu Minneapolis Downtown in Minneapolis, Minnesota. AcceleRISE—hosted by SIA’s RISE community for young professionals and those new to the industry—will present blended learning sessions featuring a mix of keynotes, panel sessions, team building exercises, peer networking and workshops.
The Security Industry Association (SIA) is marking Data Privacy Day on Monday by continuing its efforts to help its members understand and manage the critical issue of protecting consumer data. SIA has taken a leading position on privacy issues for many years, having released its original Privacy Framework in 2010. It has become even more active recently, starting with the 2017 creation of the SIA Data Privacy Advisory Board.
