How VMS Solutions Centralize Surveillance And Create Efficiencies For Gaming Facilities

We recently discussed how casinos and gaming facilities are realizing the benefits of IP video to secure their facilities and meet gaming compliance regulations. Yet, there?s another reason why the migration from analog to IP video is taking place at such a rapid pace. As gaming facilities continue transitioning to full IP video systems to capitalize on the high-quality imaging they provide, they are also realizing other benefits that include the ability to centralize and manage surveillance operations more efficiently.

Pelco And AMAG Provide Integrated Surveillance And Access Control Solution

Pelco by Schneider Electric has joined forces with AMAG Technology to deliver a truly integrated and scalable access control and surveillance system management solution enabling end-users across a wide spectrum of applications to make faster and more informed decisions.

How Migration From Analog To IP Video Benefits Casino Security

One major transformation in casino surveillance and security operations is the transition from analog video to digital recording and IP-cameras. The change is being brought about by several factors: some gaming commissions now insist on remote access to recorded or live video, which analog video cannot do; many manufacturers no longer make or sell VCRs; and analog systems have limitations on cable distances and distribution points, which limits their functionality.

Casino environments are difficult, and, as such, so is the design and implementation of a casino surveillance system. Historically, whether by design or restriction of available technology, many casinos have operated on separate Pit Cam systems (for surveillance of gaming areas including blackjack, roulette, and baccarat) and general surveillance systems (covering slot/pokie machines, bars and entertainment areas, entrances/exits and public walkways).

Security Tech Firms Hit Asia Casino Jackpot

Sydney – Asia’s new mega-casinos are driving sales and innovation in advanced surveillance technology, from chips with built-in radio transmitters to high-definition, multi-lens, digital cameras that can scan huge gaming floors and catch the deftest sleight of hand. Security solution providers such as German-Australian joint venture Dallmeier International, California-based Pelco, a unit of Schneider Electric, and Samsung Techwin, about 25% owned by Samsung Electronics, are among those reaping the benefits of Asia’s casino building boom. Tens of thousands of security cameras, including some of the most advanced commercially available, have been installed in the southern Chinese territory of Macau alone in the past five years, and many thousands more are on order for the multi billion dollar hotel-casino resorts still in the pipeline. “It’s big business. The camera market here has started to get very big… It’s probably the most demanding environment for a video surveillance system anywhere in the world,” said Craig Graham, Dallmeier International general manager for Asia. “Some of these guys (casino operators) have 700 tables and up to 1 000 slot machines, all of which have to be monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” Graham said Dallmeier had about 20% of the video surveillance market in Macau’s gaming industry, where its clients include Sands China , a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands and one of six casino firms licensed to operate in the only place in China where casinos are legal. There are around 100 000 cameras installed in Macau’s casinos, according […]
