President Obama Seeks $75M for Police Body Cameras

Spurred by the Ferguson, Missouri shooting, President Barack Obama is calling for $75 million in federal spending to get 50,000 more police to wear body cameras that record their interactions with civilians. However, Obama is not seeking to pull back federal programs that provide military-style equipment to local law enforcement.

US Violence Prompts Petition For Police To Wear Body-Worn Cameras

A public petition calling for US police to wear cameras will receive White House consideration after the killing of an unarmed teen in Ferguson, Missouri prompted days of tense protests. Under a program established by President Barack Obama’s administration, the White House is compelled to review and officially respond to a petition if it receives more than 100,000 signatures.

And various body-worn camera manufacturers are reporting increase inquiries to their solutions because of the recent turmoil. And yet another report comes out that warns against improper use of those police body-worn cameras may be of little help if not used properly.
