Canon, world-leader in imaging solutions, announced a new Video Cloud IoT as a Service business based in California called ARCUS Global Inc. Owned by Canon Europe and built on the intellectual property, technology and expertise of Canon Group company, Milestone Systems, ARCUS Global Inc. will address the significant unmet global market demand from large enterprises for Video Cloud IoT as a Service for security and business optimisation. ARCUS Global, Inc., is a spin-off from Milestone Systems and is headquartered in California.
As part of the recently announced marketing and sales framework initiative between Axis Communications and Canon, Axis introduced seven new models in the Canon network camera product line to its customers in EMEA and North America. Axis Communications, the market leader in network video, complements its portfolio by introducing seven new Canon network cameras. The majority of the new models are designed for outdoor surveillance and they all offer HDTV 1080p resolution in full frame rate.
Axis Communications and Canon, Inc. announced an agreement under which the two companies would change their sales and marketing efforts in major regional markets worldwide. In Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and North America, Axis will assume responsibility for the marketing and sales of Canon’s entire network video product portfolio, starting in EMEA on September 1 and in North America on October 1.

The new models were unveiled to the region’s security and surveillance channel including resellers and system integrators for the first time at Intersec 2014, the largest security solutions exhibition in the Middle East. The new ultra-compact ‘S’ series has been designed for indoor environments which require sensitive monitoring of specific areas or items, such as the retail, education, commercial and hospitality sectors. Canon Europe has added four new full HD resolution network security cameras to its product range: the PTZ Minidome VB-S30D, PT Minidome VB-S31D, Fixed Minidome VB-S800D, and Fixed Box VB-S900F.The new ultra-compact S series has been designed for indoor environments that require sensitive monitoring of specific areas or items, such as the retail, education, commercial and hospitality sectors. System integrators can install the four new full HD cameras as part of an existing or new security set-up. With high-sensitivity CMOS sensors, fast wide-angle lenses and dual DIGIC processors, the S series offers a combination of full HD resolution, detailed image quality, wide angle of view and excellent low-light performance. Rather than just depending on one imaging processor to do everything, the new S series features two processors: Digic DV III and Digic Net II – enabling all capturing, processing, encoding and transmitting to be performed seamlessly. The S series offers low-light performance, even in difficult lighting conditions, offering a true day/night operation. While the processing architecture Digic DV III and Digic Net II remains the same between the new series and Canons 2012 network security cameras, the internal programming has been re-engineered to deliver multiple H.264 and/or MJPEG streams in HD or lower resolutions.
