Ambarella’s Latest 5nm AI SoC Family Runs Vision-Language Models and AI-Based Image Processing With Industry’s Lowest Power Consumption

Ambarella announced during the ISC West security expo, the continued expansion of its AI system-on-chip (SoC) portfolio with the 5nm CV75S family. These new SoCs provide the industry’s most power- and cost-efficient option for running the latest multi-modal vision-language models (VLMs) and vision-transformer networks.

Ambarella Introduces S5L Family Of 4K SoCs For Battery-Powered Security IP-Cameras

Ambarella, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMBA), a leading developer of low-power, HD and Ultra HD video processing semiconductors, introduced the S5L and S5LM SoC (System on Chip) families to enable a new generation of 4K IP security cameras. The S5L is designed for professional IP-cameras and includes 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) processing, multi-streaming, on-chip lens distortion correction, and dual video inputs. The S5LM targets the home monitoring market, including battery-powered IP-cameras and video doorbell cameras, and uses a single 16-bit DDR memory for low-power operation.

Ambarella A12W Reference Design Kit Enables New Generation of Wearable Police and Security Cameras

Ambarella, Inc., a leader in low-power, high-definition and Ultra HD video compression and image‐processing solutions, announced availability of the Ambarella A12W Wearable Security Reference Design Kit (RDK). The A12W RDK enables fast development of a new generation of compact, ultra low-power, body‐worn HD video cameras suitable for police and security applications.

Ambarella S3 IP Camera SoC Delivers Outstanding 4K Video Quality Using State-of-the-Art H.265/HEVC Encoding

Ambarella, Inc., a leading developer of low-power, HD and Ultra HD video processing semiconductors, today introduced S3, a security IP camera System-On-Chip (SoC) family with support for the new H.265 or HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) video standard. S3’s full implementation of H.265 delivers up to twice the compression efficiency of Ambarella’s current H.264 IP camera SoCs, providing outstanding video quality at very low bitrates to optimize network utilization and reduce storage costs. “Ambarella has become an established leader in H.264 video encoding solutions for the security market,” said Fermi Wang, President & CEO of Ambarella. “With S3, we establish a new standard of H.265 encoding excellence to enable future generations of the highest quality HD and Ultra HD IP cameras.”

Ambarella Positioned To Profit From Booming IP Camera Market

Summary: The IP video surveillance camera market is undergoing a fundamental disruption, driving strong secular growth (23% CAGR 2013-17). While the key IP camera vendors are based outside the US, and thus harder to invest in, Ambarella ( AMBA ) is well positioned to profit from its dominance in semiconductor video encoders. Currently, AMBA is trading at a very modest P/E multiple of 11x ex cash based on a FYE (January) 2015 EPS estimate of $1.12. Given the competitive dominance & growth profile, we believe a more reasonable P/E multiple is 18x ex-cash, which leads to $25 price target. Many discussions regarding Ambarella focus on its sports camera business. This is understandable, as GoPro cameras account for a significant portion of Ambarella’s revenue, and GoPro is a highly successful and visible consumer product. However, we believe that the IP camera market will be the key growth driver for the company, though investor focus on this market has been modest. In this article, we would like to provide a better picture of the secular growth of the market and why Ambarella is well positioned to benefit from it. IP Camera Industry Overview: The IP camera market consists of the traditional, business-focused (enterprise and SMB) video surveillance camera market and a nascent consumer IP camera market. Between these two markets, the traditional video surveillance camera market accounts for the majority share of the current TAM. The consumer IP camera market, although small today, is expected to grow rapidly, as the hardware […]
