AxxonSoft Unveils Version 4.9.0 Of Its Axxon Intellect Enterprise

AxxonSoft has released version 4.9.0 of the Axxon Intellect Enterprise PSIM platform. This version is focused on new capabilities and features that are taking Axxon Intellect to the next level of performance and efficiency. Here are the key new features in the version: Axxon Intellect Enterprise 4.9.0 transmits video and performs forensic search of recorded video on 64-bit computing platforms. This allows boosting security system performance. 64-bit versions of the Video and Forensic Search modules blow away the RAM limits that are inherent to 32-bit systems. This flexibility is essential at large and geographically dispersed sites, as well as at sites that make extensive use of HD video and forensic detection tools. 64-bit modules offer a performance boost, which can mean enormous savings. By reducing the number of computers needed to support a given number of cameras, this 64-bit modernisation can have a substantial positive impact on the bottom line. Axxon Intellect Enterprise 4.9.0 is capable of multi-streaming, which means that it can offer several video streams from IP cameras. By dedicating a stream for video analytics, you can apply the full range of abilities of forensic video analysis at your site. Axxon Intellect 4.9.0 server is able to receive up to four video streams, which can be used for three different purposes: for display on a local monitor and for streaming to remote workstations; archive recording; video analytics. Multistreaming makes the most of its potential when combined with another new tool – Green Stream, which automatically selects the […]

WD Launches Purple Line Of HDDs For Surveillance Market

The higher price usually has a lot more to do with data integrity than it does performance. The surveillance drives targeted for use with always-on cameras and audio recording need to perform consistently with little room for failure due to wear & tear; so they need to have quality moving parts, better tolerance on the manufacturing specs and survive for a higher number of read/writes more so than be fast. I don’t think this is the right solution to that problem. I just put together a security camera system recently. The software supported initially writing the video files in one location, but archiving it in a different location. I so put a SSD and regular HDD in the system. The video received from the cameras is initially written to the SSD. After 3 days it gets archived (in batch) on the HDD. 1) You don’t typically think of SSDs in this particular application – there’s no need for blazing speed. But there is a need for constant concurrent writes to multiple files, which is something SSDs do a lot better than HDDs. I initially decided to go with the SSD because I noticed the computer frequently stuttered and lagged during competing read requests from the original HDD. 2) The HDD only gets written to about 4-6 times a day. At all other times, it goes to sleep. So I just grabbed a consumer "green" drive. The HDD is going to get less use than a home desktop computer HDD. […]

Morpho Launches Secure, Multifunction Biometric Tablet

(NEW YORK) — Joaquin Guzman, better known by the nickname "El Chapo," didn’t get to be one of the world’s most notorious and elusive drug lords without knowing a thing or two about how to cover his tracks. According to senior law enforcement officials, Guzman used some of the latest counter-surveillance gadgets to keep out of sight. Though El Chapo might have been able to be harder to find if he went completely off the grid, Todd Morris, the founder of Brickhouse Security, said that wasn’t a likely option. "You could go to the most extreme case and live a cave with messengers coming and going, but then what’s the point [of being a drug lord]?" he told ABC News. "Typically, the goal [of a drug dealer] is to maximize invisibility without minimizing the joy of the billions of dollars you have." Top-notch security means more than just a thorough pat-down for every visitor and a handful of security cameras looking over the premises. Here’s a couple of the gadgets that Guzman may have used to keep out of sight from the law: Spectrum Analyzer Chances are that Guzman wasn’t trusting a Wi-Fi password to keep his cyber activity hidden. "There’s no way you could make that secure, so more likely, all of his computers were Ethernet connected," Morris said, referring to the hard-wired connection to the Internet. But in the case that someone planted a bug to turn the computer into a surveillance device, Guzman could buy a […]

Eagle Eye Debuts Partner Program For Cloud-Based Video Surveillance

The days of storing your video surveillance footage on a hard drive or disc may soon be coming to an end—especially if the folks at Eagle Eye Networks have anything to say about it. Eagle Eye has taken the wraps off a new channel partner program, which will allow its VARs to sell the company’s line of home and business surveillance software to customers throughout North America. Eagle Eye Networks is one of the first surveillance companies to offer its VARs access to an on-demand cloud-based security and operations video management system (VMS) surveillance software, according to company CEO Dean Drako. “Video surveillance, which has traditionally been kind of a traditional security business, is becoming much more of an IT business,” said Drako in an interview with The VAR Guy. “We’re saying, ‘Hey, let’s do to this business what Dropbox did to the file service business.’” Eagle Eye Networks’ resellers and end users simply install a device called a Bridge in each location they wish to be monitored and connect their cameras to the cloud via a monthly subscription service. Users connect ONVIF or analog cameras to the Eagle Eye Bridge, which then stores and uploads footage to the cloud. All of the data can be accessed remotely and managed from central website. Drako is the former founder and CEO of Barracuda Networks (CUDA), a company specializing in IT security, network an application delivery and data storage, including the company’s popular spam filter appliance. Drako and his team began […]
