Sunset has 42 characters, 15 SPs, and three event characters for a total of 60 (two of which aren’t playable). Mirage introduced us to 17 characters, four SPs, and eight event characters for a total of 29 (four of which aren’t playable. yet). Sunset has 17 chapters. Mirage seems to be wrapping up around 11, so maybe 2-4 more. FIX MARIA. Now, even with less than half the number of characters, I have to say that I’ve enjoyed Mirage tenfold compared to Sunset. Less characters means more development since they each get more screen time. Not that having more characters is bad, it’s not, I still love the gameplay. And even though most of the event characters from Mirage pretty much have terrible / mediocre skill sets, I can’t help but love them. Sione ass. But story-wise, Mirage shows how Rayark has improved with their visual storytelling, at least to me. I found Sunset to be dragged out and slow, and couldn’t appreciate most of the characters to be honest. Although we’re still waiting for more of Jia-Shen, Law, Miranda, etc. As well, fight scenes, bosses, skill animations, they’re all better than before. So much action, it’s eye candy. As for the soundtrack, again, I’d have to praise Mirage over Sunset, but both are phenomenal. I think I’ll miss the opening of Mirage, with the camera panning upward to show off the Dragon Tooth. This season’s aesthetic is just lovely (and not to mention in higher definition) . Now, nothing’s perfect. My biggest pet peeves with Mirage are, of course, terrible skill sets like NEKO’s (especially the 6-orb) and the shape restriction on 3 and 4-orb skills. Personally, I think 4-orb skills should all be O, I, L, Z, and even T-shaped, if not just O. But I think I’m the only one whining about this. Anyways, here’s to hoping for many more seasons to come. WHY DON’T WE HAVE CLARK YET?!
