Dahua Devices Dangerously Exposed To Cybersecurity Hack
Dahua, the world?s second-largest maker of ?Internet of Things? devices like security cameras and digital video recorders (DVRs), has shipped a software update that closes a gaping security hole in a wide range of its IP-cameras and DVRs. The vulnerability allows anyone to bypass the login process for these devices and gain remote (and direct) control over vulnerable systems. Adding urgency to the situation, there is now code available online that allows anyone to exploit this bug and commandeer a large number of IoT devices.

After the official approval of the antitrust authorities, the business partnership of Bosch Security Systems and Sony Corporation in the field of video security solutions became effective by February 1, 2017. Both companies will now focus on strengthening their collaboration that was first announced in November 2016. The partnership entails both a sales and marketing cooperation as well as a technical collaboration. Companies such as IQeye became a very popular ?SD? camera manufacturer. They rose quickly and gained significant market success. And they also made a wager on the industry that ?megapixel? would not catch on and become viable. Then there were companies —such as Arecont Vision— that made just the opposite wager. Megapixel was going to be ?the norm? and the two well-educated company founders put everything they could into building a megapixel camera manufacturer that would deliver on the promise of high-definition resolution.
Vicon Reports Financial Results For First Quarter Ended December 31, 2016
Revenues for the first quarter of fiscal 2017 decreased 39% to $6.6 million as compared to $10.9 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2016. The $4.3 million decrease in the current quarter included a $3.0 million, or 35%, decrease in sales in the Americas market and a $1.3 million, or 56%, decrease in EMEA market sales. Revenues weakened across all market segments due principally to a continuing reliance on legacy product offerings and the continuing market effects of previously reported camera line issues. Order intake for the current quarter decreased $5.9 million to $5.8 million as compared to $11.7 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2016.

Hackers Hit D.C. Police Surveillance Camera Network, City Officials Disclose
Hackers infected 70 percent of storage devices that record data from D.C. police surveillance cameras eight days before President Trump?s inauguration, forcing major citywide reinstallation efforts, according to the police and the city?s technology office. City officials said ransomware left police cameras unable to record between Jan. 12 and Jan. 15.
