Vicon’s 3 MP Cell Camera Provides New High-Resolution Option For The Corrections Market

Vicon Industries has introduced a new 3MP version of its heavy-duty Roughneck V-CELL-HD-B camera, specially designed for use in custodial suites and prison cells. This ONVIF compliant camera features stainless steel assembly, security screws and polycarbonate windows that protect the camera and IR illuminators. Its unique triangular shape accommodates mounting at the juncture of two walls and the ceiling and, once installed, the camera should be permanently sealed to the wall to create a ligature-proof and water-resistant housing.

Dayton Church Catches The Bad Guys With Verified Video Surveillance

3xLOGIC, announced that Northwest Church of Christ in Dayton, Ohio was broken into recently and Sonitrol of SW Ohio, using technology from 3xLOGIC, worked with local law enforcement to apprehend the intruder and prevent damage or theft from the facility. The church is located in a rough part of town, with a large homeless population. Church of Christ has installed Multi-Sensor devices connected to the Sonitrol Central Station to provide an active, visible deterrent to break-ins. Unfortunately, the church was undergoing renovations and someone left a door unlocked.

SIA Supports Senate’s STOP School Violence Act

The Security Industry Association (SIA) strongly supports S. 2495, the Students, Teachers and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Act of 2018, introduced by a bipartisan coalition of 25 U.S. senators led by Sens. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn. The legislation would fund school security improvements and invest in prevention programs to stop school violence before it happens.

Northrop Grumman Wins $95 Million Contract From DHS

Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded a $95 million contract by the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM) to develop increments one and two of the Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology (HART) system. Northrop Grumman will serve as systems developer and integrator for this 42-month effort. HART is the organization’s next-generation recognition program, replacing the Automated Biometric Identity System (IDENT) built in the 1990s.

Guards at Smith State Prison didn’t try to stop troubled inmate Richard Tavera from hanging himself until four had assembled outside his cell, videos obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution show. By then, more than seven minutes had passed since the first report Tavera was attempting suicide, and nothing could be done to save his life, the videos show.
