Integrated Security Solutions Add New Layer
?Security is always too much until the day that it is not enough.? This quote, coined by former FBI director William H. Webster, perfectly summarizes the physical security industry. The irony of this fact is that a well-functioning security solution is transparent to the end-user. It is only if the security system fails that it comes to the attention of management. For this reason, both developers and condominium boards have shown some reluctance to invest in high-end security methods. There are many good reasons for this hesitation. Previously any security system over and above a camera system (referred to as a video surveillance system or VSS) has been seen as an upgrade due to the cost of the equipment and of running cables. Recent advances in the equipment have made VSS, and other technologies, much more useful and affordable to condominiums.

Did You Catch An Employee Thief? Should You Prosecute?
There are many factors whether you should prosecute an employee after you have caught them red-handed. Although sometimes the decision is not yours, but simply a matter of your organizations policy or your legal teams decision. When that decision is yours to make or yours to convince others, there are many factors to consider. The time involved for you and your team can be very costly, as preparing for trial, the trial itself, and perhaps fighting or preparing an appeal can appear to outweigh the value of prosecution. You must consider what else is on your agenda to establish whether you can afford your time, or others’ time in your organization.

In-Store Video Analytics Deliver Brand Showrooms That Mean Business According To Prism Skylabs
Physical retail spaces are a vital link in modern, omni-channel retailing but how can you maximise their returns? Kimberly Goldsworth, VP marketing, Prism Skylabs, helps answer this burning question. There?s no question that more commerce is moving online. Amazon?s acquisition of Whole Foods is just one piece of recent evidence pointing to this trend. The flipside, however, is that the acquisition supports Amazon?s strategy to open more physical showrooms where shoppers can smell, taste, and handle products. As part of this, Amazon recently opened seven bookstores (with several more planned) in the US to cater to the resurgence in demand for physical books and allow people to test-drive gadgets like the Echo and the Fire TV Stick.
Truck Fleet Exoneration: Using Video To Determine Accident Liability
Inattention, excessive speed, failure to yield, and unsafe lane changes are among the top causes of truck collisions, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). For fleet managers, preventing collisions caused by their own drivers can be quite challenging because risk factors must be measured before an accident occurs. But what happens when a crash isn?t the truck driver?s fault? In fact, a Fleet Owner whitepaper on video-based safety, sponsored by SmartDrive, found that even though truckers are blamed for most of the crashes that occur in the U.S., 80% of those crashes are actually the fault of car drivers.

With New IP VMS Technology, Do We Still Need Separate Pit Cam & Surveillance Systems?
Casino environments are difficult, and, as such, so is the design and implementation of a casino surveillance system. Historically, whether by design or restriction of available technology, many casinos have operated on separate Pit Cam systems (for surveillance of gaming areas including blackjack, roulette, and baccarat) and general surveillance systems (covering slot/pokie machines, bars and entertainment areas, entrances/exits and public walkways).
