Fort Worth Expands Video Surveillance Solution From PureTech Systems

The installation marks the third of the city’s water facilities to utilize the PureActiv system. The brand new facility boasts the "latest, greatest technology in drinking water treatment", according to water department spokeswoman Mary Gugliuzza1 . The $63 million dollar facility will utilize PureActiv video management system and its geospatial video analytics for perimeter protection, sensors monitoring, alarm management and forensic video tasks. Construction of the facility system was funded by the Texas Water Development Board, and the security system installation was performed by Schneider Electric. "PureTech continues to demonstrate the ability to meet our detection requirements and they innovate quickly to meet our new security challenges," stated Juan Reyes, Safety and Security Manager for the City of Fort Worth Water Department. The Westside installation includes PureActiv’s geospatial (map-based) user interface, which provides security personnel an intuitive display of the security information and a simple to use interface, allowing quick and efficient operation. Additionally, PureTech’s geospatial video analytic capabilities provide both intruder detection and subsequent camera auto tracking. (© FlaglerLive) Not to worry: the ominous-looking spy cameras that have just gone up on both side of U.S. 1 between Royal Palms Parkway and Whiteview Parkway in Palm Coast, are not speed cameras. They’re not even trained at most vehicles. They’re aimed at heavy trucks only, to catch overweight truckers trying to evade the weigh stations either on U.S. 1 or on I-95. The cameras on U.S. 1 went up last week. Another set will be built further north, by the northbound lanes of U.S. 1, opposite the weigh station, as part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s $1.2 million virtual weigh station system that’s been rigging up selected points around the county since last year. Similar cameras have been in place a year at the on-ramp of I-95 north and State Road 100, and at the off ramp from I-95 southbound, onto Palm Coast Parkway. The vendor’s recently announced acquisition of ServiceMesh, a 140-person, privately funded cloud management and brokerage company, is CSC’s third deal in a year – made possible by cost-cutting and shedding some business in order to build up resources and free cash. This deal augments CSC’s overall cloud initiatives, particularly in how it accelerates CSC’s internal IP efforts around cloud orchestration and management. Acquisitions focused on building capabilities in strategic growth areas CSC unveiled its acquisition of ServiceMesh as part of its mixed Q2 earnings announcement. Tens of thousands of security cameras, including some of the most advanced commercially available, have been installed in the southern Chinese territory of Macau alone in the past five years, and many thousands more are on order for the multi billion dollar hotel-casino resorts still in the pipeline. “It’s big business. The camera market here has started to get very big… It’s probably the most demanding environment for a video surveillance system anywhere in the world,” said Craig Graham, Dallmeier International general manager for Asia. “Some of these guys (casino operators) have 700 tables and up to 1 000 slot machines, all of which have to be monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” Graham said Dallmeier had about 20% of the video surveillance market in Macau’s gaming industry, where its clients include Sands China , a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands and one of six casino firms licensed to operate in the only place in China where casinos are legal.
