ONVIF Recognizes VidSys and Steve Dillingham With 2014 ONVIF Award
VidSys, a leading global provider of Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software, is pleased to announce that software engineer Steve Dillingham was selected as one of five recipients 2014 ONVIF Awards, which recognizes security industry leaders and influencers who are shaping the adoption of open standards.

Intel Licenses Cognitec’s Technology for Device Access

Samsung Sells Samsung Techwin
Samsung Techwin announced on Friday (November 28, 2014) that Samsung Group affiliates will sell their holding stakes in Samsung Techwin to Hanwha Group. Samsung Techwin is a major supplier of video surveillance equipment. Hanwha Group is a large South Korean conglomerate. Samsung Group is reorganizing its business empire to make it easier for the children of Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) chairman Lee Kun-hee, 72, who has been hospitalized since a May heart attack, to divvy up the conglomerate.
ONVIF Hosts First Virtual Annual Membership Meeting

ACLU Urges More Public Debate on Surveillance Technologies
The ACLU recently released a report regarding how security and surveillance cameras and recordings are beginning to erode at civil liberties. The American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California recently launched a statewide campaign to ensure that public debate, oversight, and accountability precede the acquisition of surveillance technologies by law enforcement agencies. Counties and cities across California have spent in excess of $60 million on invasive surveillance technology, and only five of 90 communities studied held a public debate each time they introduced a new element, according to the ACLU report released Nov. 12.
